Hope Island Town Centre, Queensland

In late 2010 Walker Corporation acquired a strategic site for retail development in Hope Island on Queensland's Gold Coast and appointed President Property Group to undertake the total development management services for the site.  The group intends to develop an $80 million mixed-use commercial and retail precinct, including a full-line supermarket, to be rolled out across various stages.

The high-profile site comprises the income-producing Marina Quays Tavern with 40 gaming machines, and part of the adjoining town centre site.

The holding comprises approximately 35,000 square metres in total with around 500 metres of frontage to Hope Island Road.

PPG are currently preparing the appropriate masterplan and Development Approvals for the site.

The purchase of the site was a calculated move to capitalise on the growth potential of the Hope Island area and meet the void for quality retail and commercial facilities to accommodate the growing number of residents on the Gold Coast's north shore.

The site is located adjacent to the Hope Island Canal – a massive piece of infrastructure which was completed in 2005 in an initiative involving local landowners and the Gold Coast council. Set between Sanctuary Cove, Hope Island Resort and the Hope Island Road, the site is the last major land parcel in the area.

PPG expect to start construction on this new development in late 2011.
